One of the coolest Elegoo Centauri Carbon mods I've come across is converting the printer to use Bambu-style hotends. There are now community-made adapters that let you use Bambu H2D/A1 quick-swap hotends on the Centauri Carbon.
Why Do the Bambu Hotend Mod?
The biggest reason is simple: changing hotends becomes way easier.
Instead of messing around with the stock Centauri Carbon hotend every time you want to change nozzle sizes or deal with a clog, the Bambu H2D/A1 setup lets you quickly clip the hotend in and out.
It also opens you up to a much larger selection of inexpensive aftermarket hotends.
How Does the Mod Work?
The mod uses an adapter that fits the Bambu-style hotend into the Centauri Carbon toolhead. There are printable versions available, and there are also premade kits if you don't want to source everything yourself.
One important thing is don't just print the adapter in PLA. This part is exposed to quite a bit of heat. The OpenCentauri documentation recommends high-temperature materials or properly annealed parts for this particular retrofit.
There is also a more involved Constellation Extruder mod for the original Centauri Carbon that allows you to use Bambu X1/P1-compatible hotends.
Is the Centauri Carbon Bambu Hotend Mod Worth It?
If you're constantly swapping nozzle sizes, I'd definitely consider it.
I wouldn't necessarily do this expecting your prints to suddenly look better. The real advantage is convenience, easier nozzle changes, and access to more hotend options. One user who completed the conversion reported essentially no change in print quality, with the quick tool-free hotend swap being the main benefit.
For someone who just prints with a 0.4mm nozzle all the time, I'd probably leave the Centauri Carbon stock. But if you like modifying your printers and regularly switch hotends, this is one of the more interesting Centauri Carbon upgrades out there
