If you're getting Centauri Carbon Error 502, it means the printer is having trouble collecting data from the bed leveling sensors. In simple terms, something isn't looking right while the printer is trying to level the bed. Elegoo officially calls this a “Leveling sensor data collection error.”
Start With the Easy Fix
Before taking anything apart, restart the printer and run the automatic bed leveling again.
Also make sure your Centauri Carbon is sitting on a solid, stable surface. Elegoo actually lists an unstable or vibrating surface as one of the possible causes of Error 502.
Check if the Bed Is Tilted
The next thing I'd look at is the heated bed itself.
If the bed is noticeably tilted from one side to the other, the leveling system can throw Error 502. Elegoo recommends checking the bed and correcting its balance before running automatic leveling again.
Some Centauri Carbon owners have also reported fixing Error 502 simply by getting the bed properly leveled again.
Check the Leveling Sensors
The Centauri Carbon has four leveling sensors underneath the heated bed.
If the easy fixes don't work, Elegoo recommends powering the printer off and checking the connections going to these sensors. A loose connection or bad sensor can cause Error 502.
Pay attention to where the nozzle stops during leveling. If it consistently fails near the same corner, that can help narrow down which sensor is causing the problem.
Still Getting Error 502?
If you've restarted the printer, checked that it's sitting securely, and made sure the bed isn't tilted, I'd contact Elegoo before replacing anything.
Centauri Carbon Error 502 doesn't necessarily mean your printer is broken. It could be something as simple as the bed being out of balance or a loose leveling sensor connection. I'd definitely work through those easier fixes first.
